These two teams had met in pre-season when Whitstable also emerged victorious with a 1-0 win. However, this game promised something different as Croydon made 8 changes from that which had earlier lost. Alas, the wholesale changes did little beyond confuse the visitors who seemed lost at sea at times and made up for it by getting physical and arguing with the ref.
