Met Pol v W_004.JPG
Hello hello hello?

It was a beautiful day at the Met Police ground which, as steveparsons has already noted, is probably the best ground in our division. And for the first 5-6 minutes looked like we might cause an upset. Apart from a recent win in a cup, Met Police really had failed to flatter in recent games, and during the opening exchanges, they looked all over the place. Whitstable looked in control. But a disallowed goal in the fourth minute from the Met was an inauspicious sign. The goa...

Corinthian-Casuals 1 WTFC 2 - 30.09.08

CorC v W_010s.JPG

It's funny how a good performance from the lads can alter your mood! The journey to Corinthian Casuals on a Tuesday night was marked by some trepidation for this 6 pointer against a team that got a good result against Met Police. But from the off the Oysterboys were in full song probably helped by the welcome return of the Choirmaster and Elwood. The Oystermen responded to the song and seemed especially inspired by "Let's pretend we've scored a goal" after a couple of chances went astray from...

Kingstonian 1 WTFC 1 - 28.03.09

Kingst v WTFC_041

The Kingstonian forum was a abuzz prior to kick-off predicting a mauling of The Oystermen, and the omens did not look good after Whitstable gave away the ball with the first kick of the game. That allowed high-flying Kingstonian to launch a swift attack forcing Kevin Fewell to make a fingertip save within 30 seconds of the start. Fortunately, the shock seemed to remind the Red Men (playing in yellow) that the game had started and they quickly composed themselves.

w v cray_009.JPG

I should have statyed on honeymoon cos this game certainy wasn't one! Cray scored a very good goal within a couple of minutes from way out as an attempted clearance landed on the boot of Kinch who shot from outside the area into the bottom corner. There was nothing Fewell could have done about it, but the ball should have been cleared in the first place.

Whitstable did manage a shot at goal in the first ten after Danny Tipple hurdled a couple of Cray player, crossed for Clint Gooding who shot ...

WTFC 0 Fleet 2 - 06.09.08

W v Fleet_048

Andy Sinton’s Fleet inflicted further misery on The Oystermen’s poor start to the season cruising to a deserved victory at The Belmont. A marginally better organised Fleet camped in the hosts’ half in a scrappy opening which also saw Campbell (filling in at left back) putting in some crunching tackles which more often than not led to the concession of free-kicks. A mere 7 minutes into the game and Fleet's James Field crossed dangerously from the right for Hemmings to header onto the po...

Ashford v W_006

If Saturday’s performance against Burgess Hill was the worst in recent history then today’s game could surely not have been far behind? Oysterman of the match by a long way was Kevin Fewell. And if the keeper, who let in four, was by far the best player on the pitch, it really says very little for the rest of the team. That said, both veteran Whitstable players Tom Parker and Rob Thomas did pretty well amongst some other very ordinary performances.

There was a debate about whether the te...
