Chipstead 3 WTFC 1 - 12.01.08

A beautiful sky over Chipstead.

But are the Chips down for the Oysters?

Pullie rues a squandered chance

This was always going to be a tough game.
Chipstead have not only been flying in the league, but they play in green. So the omens were not good. The Chipstead side looked like a completely different team from that which won 2-1 at The Belmont earlier in the season. Unfortunately, they looked even better: tall, strong and solid in central defence and a tricky pairing at right back and ri...

Horsham YMCA 0 WTFC 1 - 22.09.07

Posted by Per Laleng on Friday, November 6, 2009,

Fair play to Seags, he said he would turn it round, and he did against Horsham YMCA on Saturday. Still reeling from the FA cup exit against Thamesmead last weekend, he made a number of changes to the team that limped out so ineffectually from the greatest cup competition in the world with the two most significant changes being the relegation of Steven Lloyd and club captain Marcos Perona to the bench, with Tommy Martin donning the captain's armband: a bold and surprising move given that Tom...

Cray Wanderers 3 WTFC 0 - League Cup QF 22/01/08

Posted by Per Laleng on Friday, September 11, 2009,

We lost 3-0. The score flattered Cray slightly, but they were the better team. We didn't play as well as on Saturday and I think I'm right in saying we had one shot on goal in the first half, which the Cray keeper saved very well. In the second, we played better, but were hassled out of possession when we got it (which wasn't very often).

Much more attacking in second half. Two Town goals disallowed in the game. At least one was good. Cray always looked like they would win it. I thought all ...

Dartford 3 WTFC 0 - League Cup 3rd Round 4.12.07

Posted by Per Laleng on Friday, September 11, 2009, In : Archived match report
I don't normally write up cup game, but because of the current problems with the forum, I thought I would say a few words about last night's game at Princes Park.

This was going to be a difficult game. I predicted a 3-0 loss and changed my mind at the last minute to a 1-0 win! Dartford are top of the Ryman North division and won 6-1 on Saturday. But they fielded a largely under 21 side which should have made the ask easier. However, there were no signs in the Whitstable side of Liam Quin...

Dulwich Hamlet 2 WTFC 3 - 23.02.08

Posted by Per Laleng on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, In : Archived match report

Whitstable travelled to Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday - a nice stadium built courtesy of Sainsbury's. Despite challenging for the play-off places, Dulwich had lost their influential captain to Kingstonian the day before this game and their recent results had been somewhat erratic. That said, they had recorded an impressive 2-0 victory against the Oystermen when the teams met at The Belmont on 10 November. Their pace had proved to be Whitstable's undoing on that occasion. In front of a respecta...
