The Kingstonian forum was a abuzz prior to kick-off predicting a mauling of The Oystermen, and the omens did not look good after Whitstable gave away the ball with the first kick of the game. That allowed high-flying Kingstonian to launch a swift attack forcing Kevin Fewell to make a fingertip save within 30 seconds of the start. Fortunately, the shock seemed to remind the Red Men (playing in yellow) that the game had started and they quickly composed themselves.

Kingstonian 3 WTFC 0 - 08.03.08

A miserable day on a number of counts, but predominantly due to the weather and the score. Whitstable have had a reputation for playing good football in the rain, but perhaps it did not rain hard enough to motivate the players? Whatever the explanation, most of them weren't at the races (or maybe they were at the races but should have been at the game!)

Kingstonian’s visit to the Belmont was always going to be a stern test for Whitstable irrespective of their stuttering recent form. Two 3-1 losseson the bounce, and facing an established Ryman side lying third in the table, a team that doesn’t seem to lose away, who score twice as many as they give away the signs for Whitstable were inauspicious. Their cause was hardly helped by the recall of Big John Akinde by Ebbsfleet United just before the game. But as one chapter ends another begins:...
