 A game between these two sides usually produces a goal-fest. This one didn't, and it was no classic spectacle. But I disagree with comments suggesting that it was boring. And a point and a clean sheet are not to be balked at even if this was a game from which three points could have been bagged. This was never going to be an easy game, but last season this game away at Dulwich Hamlet proved to be the turning point as Whitstable took all three points after a fantastic 3-2 victory against a team flying high in the league. Tommy Martin's free kick was the pick of the bunch in that game. Whitstable travelled to Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday - a nice stadium built courtesy of Sainsbury's. Despite challenging for the play-off places, Dulwich had lost their influential captain to Kingstonian the day before this game and their recent results had been somewhat erratic. The last time Whitstable started a game with a pre-match group huddle was in the Kent Senior Trophy final against Bearsted last season. This season, that gesture of togetherness has been distinctly lacking. Other teams in the Ryman who start this way, tend to do well against the Oystermen. Not always, but generally.
