Cray Wanderers 1 Met Police 0 - 02.05.09 (Play-off final)

Posted by Per Laleng on Sunday, November 1, 2009, In : Archived match report

With the football season drawing to an unwelcomely swift conclusion I thought I would check out the most likely title challenger for next season by visiting Hayes Lane for this play-off final between Cray and Met. As both teams had progressed to the final via 1-0 wins, a similar score-line looked the most likely. And omens proved correct in a slightly nervy game between two physical and well-organised teams which was punctuated by some moments of brilliance.

The first half was evenly balanced....

I should have statyed on honeymoon cos this game certainy wasn't one! Cray scored a very good goal within a couple of minutes from way out as an attempted clearance landed on the boot of Kinch who shot from outside the area into the bottom corner. There was nothing Fewell could have done about it, but the ball should have been cleared in the first place.

Cray Wanderers visited The Belmont with an unbeaten 20 match run under their belt. Lying very comfortably in third place before the game and having beaten Whitstable three times already this term, it was going to be a big ask to get anything out of the game. As I write this, somewhere in Switzerland they are turning on the particle accelerator that may create a black hole into which the whole world will be sucked as they recreate the first few milliseconds of the Big Bang. I ask myself therefore, is this the way I want to spend my last few hours on this Earth? Writing up a match report from last night's game; having driven to Cray and back, having watched yet another poor display of football. The short answer is 'yes' (obviously, I am doing it). ...

Cray Wanderers 3 WTFC 0 - League Cup QF 22/01/08

We lost 3-0. The score flattered Cray slightly, but they were the better team. We didn't play as well as on Saturday and I think I'm right in saying we had one shot on goal in the first half, which the Cray keeper saved very well. In the second, we played better, but were hassled out of possession when we got it (which wasn't very often).

Much more attacking in second half. Two Town goals disallowed in the game. At least one was good. Cray always looked like they would win it. I thought all ...
